Machine vision is revolutionizing the manufacturing process by automating tasks and improving efficiency. However, it's important to note that not all machine vision systems are identical. While traditional rules-based machine vision is excellent for inspecting highly repeatable products, AI-powered machine vision can examine more detail and handle more complex problems, such as products with a high variance of naturally occurring organic variability. In the food industry, using AI-enabled machine vision in the production process allows for the grading of food quality. This helps manufacturers set appropriate prices and inspect the quality of received products to ensure they are not overpaying for low-quality items. This session presents use cases depicting how AI-enabled machine vision is advancing automation in the manufacturing process through vision-guided robotics and visual inspection.
